6. OPTIONAL: Some of the students chose to take home with Famous Heroes project to work on this weekend.  We will continue work on this project on Monday in class.  Please return all completed and uncompleted work on Monday so you can continue onto the next step.  Mom and Dad, this was a choice by the students to take it or leave it, with the exception of a few who had to take it home to catch up.  We will be beginning presentations on Wednesday.  You will find out Monday when your presentation will be scheduled. Below is a list of guidelines to follow in order to prepare for your presentation.  I will also email Mom and Dad with these guidelines so they can assist you if needed.

  • Complete your sentences from the word match.
  • Edit each sentence by changing the names and pronouns to first-person (talking as if you are talking about yourself).
  • Add 2 sentences of your choice talking about your birth and death (or what you are currently doing).  You may need to add more than two if you think your sentences from the word match and not important enough to talk about.  You need to have a total of 14 sentences for your presentation.
  • Organize your sentences in order of your life (birth to death, or present time).
  • Type your sentence in story form so your writing looks like a paragraph about you. YOU need to do the typing to practice and familiarize yourself with the keyboard.
  • Mom and Dad should email Mrs. Wall at jwall@saintlawrence.org any typing you do over the weekend.
  • Start practicing your speaking in front of others so you are ready to present and talk in front of the class just like Mother Teresa did.
  • HAVE FUN!!!

NEWS: Welcome back!
Happy New Year Second Grade Families,
We are so happy to back in school! We hope you had a wonderful time with your family during the break from school. Now that we are back, we are ready to learn! Gabbit will continue to come home each night with one of you. If you haven't had a chance yet, it will be coming soon!
two packages of baby (hand) wipes to school for us to stay clean and healthy. Also, tomorrow we are having a very special presentation about geometry. Rather than going on a field trip to learn about this, the field trip is coming to us! Please send $3.00 to school for this wonderful presentation, at your earliest convenience as well.
Finally, now that we are back at school we are always looking for volunteers to help in the classroom or to help do paperwork at home. If you are interested in helping, IN ANY WAY please let us know via email (jwall@saintlawrence.org), whatever it is you would like to help with. Thank you to all of you who helped create the books for the students during our break. We will have a couple more ready to send home soon, so just let us know if you are willing to help. Welcome back to St. Lawrence! We hope the remainder of our school year together is as great as the first half has been!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Wall and Mrs. Vierra
